Half of third brake light is out. How do I get to it? There is a small panel underneath it, remove two screws but panel will not release. Don't want to break anything.

It could just be the adhesive tape they use to seal the light cover. The cover panel is held on with plastic push tabs. Release those first and remove the cover panel.

Next, unscrew the brake light housing with the exposed bolts and drop the unit down to unplug the electrical connector.

Thanks, I guess after 18 years that tape doesn’t feel like letting go. I’ll get back in there.

This adhesive problem may be helped with WD-40. I don't often recommend WD-40, but dissolving adhesives is a good use for WD-40. Try not to get any on the paint. If you do, wipe off immediately.

The third brake light (or CHMSL) is an LED on the buick lesabre. its 99% likely to be a wiring issue and not a bulb issue. Does your regular brake lights work? But if HALF Of it is out, it could be defective and died. You may need another one
