I need a backup camera

I just inherited my dad’s 2012 LaCrosse. I’m petite and am miserable with so many blind spots (slanted windows, pillars, big mirrors). I’ve adjusted the outside mirrors, but I’m still scared when I have to back up. I want to add a backup camera. Any ideas on what has worked? Would be great to replace the rear view mirror with one or swap out the infotainment screen.

You can check crutchfield.com to get an idea of what is available for your vehicle and costs. The backup mirror should be compatible with your current mirror if it has auto dimming, OnStar etc if looking to go that route. I went with a mirror as it keeps my eyes on the rest of the area then looking down at the infotainment center which is safer IMO and is a easier installation IMO.

Thank you! That’s a great point about looking down at info center. I’m going to look for a combo dash cam/backup camera mirror.

Honestly I grew up without them so it's a little more natural using the mirror and doing a new infotainment system gets more involved with interface GM cables which adds to the expense. Good luck on finding something that fits your needs.
