Buick Ownership
2014 Buick Verano
My 2014 Buick Verano has about 48k miles. What are some things i can do now to make sure the engine and transmission last as long as possible?

Getting it's transmission flushed in a month or two around it's 50k mark, but i plan to do it every 30k after that. It's still got a couple thousand miles until it's next oil change. Should i use strictly synthetic?

Using Seafoam every 3k miles or so as well.

Looking forward to everyone's thoughts!

Do not Flush the transmission. If it has a serviceable filter, just drop the pan and replace the fluid. If it does not have a filter, drain and refill.
Use synthetic engine oil.

Seafoam isn't really needed. My 2013 just turned 55K, synthetic oil changes per the oil life monitor, brake fluid every 30K (GM actually suggests it every 15K, trans service is every 30K, I did mine at 44K when the oil and brake flush was being done. If it's never been done, coolant needs changed, consider replacing the VVT's as a precaution, even though GM says your plugs are good to 100K, I'd do them now anyhow. Think it cost me $140 last year for OEM parts to do both VVT's and the plugs, takes about an hour to DIY it. I run a can of BG 44K through the engine once or twice a year and a BG EPR with every other oil change.

I have about 98,5xx miles on my '15 Premium. I switched to synthetic motor oil last summer. Otherwise, I follow the manufacturer's maintenance interval recommendations. I wish the spark plug interval was longer (60K seems too short to me). I have to get the car's transmission fluid replaced next plus another coolant flush 'n refill.

You should check the oil level at least weekly. The procedure should be in the owners' manual.

Use DEXOS full synthetic motor oil according to the owners' manual. The newest DEXOS SP GF-6 oils might have some advantages too.

Change motor oil frequently. We do the earlier of 5k miles or 1 year. "Severe use" requires shorter intervals.

The coolant and brake fluids have short lives. They lose performance and corrosion protection. Have those fluids changed.

If you have the 2.4L engine, the PCV orifice can clog. It is on the intake manifold and can be cleaned (removing the intake is the correct way but there is a screw mod which might work if the intake is already clean). GM makes a pressure releasing oil cap that might be appropriate for your car, especially if live in freezing zone.
