Thank you good idea

You may want to check the coolant elbows if they haven't been replaced, they can sometimes toss coolant in different places.

I did check the little elbows from the water pump to the block and they are dry so thanks for the heads up.

It looks like a leaking LIM gasket.

would that cause a antifreeze leak or oil leak?

THAN U👍 ALL HAVE HELPED.

what is LIM
Lower intake manifold. It's a very common problem on these motors. If it is the lim or upper plenum, then the gaskets must be replaced! I just did mine a few days ago and the little coolant elbows should also be replaced but get the metal ones from Dorman. There are many vids on YouTube to help get you familiar with the job.

Have you also noticed loosing coolant from overflow tank?

The magnitude of the seep at or above the screw plug can be judged by using ultraviolet dye and an ultraviolet flashlight.

Dye
Flashlight

The dye will stain clothes and skin IIRC, so be careful handling it and warn anyone working on the coolant after that about the presence of the dye.

The mileage isn't mentioned but the problem could be coolant seeping past the lower intake manifold gaskets internally.

Or first You can verify that for the cost of an oil analysis--I used Blackstone labs which sends a free container for shipping and charges on the order of $30. I sent in a sample on my 03 to check the life of the first synthetic oil I had put in around 100K miles. They called saying I had a coolant leak due to the presence of Na and K (sodium and potassium) in the oil. Could be worth your money to do this by extracting a sample of oil through a small sample at oil change time.

Blackstone labs info

Never change to synthetic at that kind of mileage, especially with these motors. The only time I would even consider going to fully synthetic is at the beginning of life for an engine. Semi- synthetic or known as (synthetic blend) is acceptable. and what I use in my 03 sabre.

How many miles do you have on your car?

I changed to full synthetic, Pennzoil Platinum IIRC, and never looked back. 7 K miles or so oil changes. It was running great at 210K miles when I traded it, so something did well for the engine.

Earlier I had changed oil at frequent intervals. I believe I ran one cycle of a blended synthetic and then folks recommended full synthetics that had become more common and affordable.

No oil leaks, etc.. Were they to have appeared, I would have gone back to base oils. My information at the time was that the detergents in the blends were just as potent as the detergents in the full synthetics, so if full synthetic had invoked an oil leak by cleaning up gunk, the blends would have continued the leak.

Everybody has an opinion as which is better.

On the other hand, my 1998 leSabre with regular oil changes with quality normal oils developed some oil seeps after about 150 K Mi. Little black drops on the driveway after driving. It never got blends or synthetics. Just good name brands with the latest correct rating for the best oils meeting GM's tests.

I've always used synthetic blend with oil changes every 3000 miles and never had problems. They say you should never go to fully synthetic on a car that has more then 10,000 miles but I agree, to each is own.
