Buick Ownership
2019 Buick Encore
I have a 2019 Buick encore and both my key fobs will not unlock the car. I use the key to manually get in the car and of course the alarm goes off. Once it goes off, the car won’t start. It says there is no detection of my key fobs. I put them in the cupholder I get it says to do and the car still will not start the majority of the times. I’ve gone to a locksmith and he tested both key fobs, and both are in great condition. The batteries have been replaced, and those he said were in good condition . Is anybody having any problems or have had these problems and how did you go about getting it resolved without spending an arm and a leg?

How old is your car battery? Having a good car battery is also important. If it's the original, it's at the end of it's life and needs to be replaced.

I took my car to a locksmith and he tested my key fobs, the batteries and the car battery and everything was really good. However it is the original car battery. Maybe I should take it somewhere else. The dealership won’t look at without charging me $160.00 just to find out what’s wrong 😣

It's a 5 year old battery. Just replace it. Batteries have a life of 4-6 years. Call around and get a price quote. Small independent shops can do this for you, or some places that sell batteries can install them also. I know a battery isn't cheap, but don't let yourself be stranded because the battery gives out.

Thank you so much for the advice, I’ll try that.
