Hello all,

I have a 1996 Buick Park Avenue. I have replaced the keyless theft locking module. This module is number 25666345, just as it was listed in the parts catalog.

Since in Germany the Park Avenue was delivered without remote control, this function was deactivated in this module. I ordered a used module from the USA many years ago. This also worked without problems until this year. Since then there were false alarms and the alarm system went off for no reason. Now I have ordered another module and re-taught by means of pin 4 + 8 on the OBD connector. If I now press the button to lock the driver's door, the chime sounds, the second time it closes all doors. This seemed strange to me and I locked with the remote control. The Securitiy light no longer flashes after locking and when I manually open the door after locking, the alarm remains off. When I press the lock button on the passenger door this chime does not appear.

Is it possible that this new used module has the alarm programmed out? If I now reinstall the previous module, there are false alarms again.

I would be concerned about the possibility the Export version has special considerations, since you are in germany.
This may have something helpful.. can you show me your "remote" youre using?

Condition
Some owners may comment on insufficient range of the keyless entry system.

Correction
A new replacement module, P/N 25666345, has been released to address this concern.

it seems you have the right module. your concerns about the security system, itsi mportant to note that they are separate from the RKE system in ways.

To determine if a transmitter is out of synchronization, all functions appear to be inoperative, press the RED PANIC button. If the horn starts honking and lights start flashing, the transmitter is out of synchronization.

PERFORM BEFORE BEGINNING SYSTEM DIAGNOSIS:
1.Distinguish Remote Function Actuator (RFA) operation from the operation of the controlled Circuits by checking each of the following systems individually:
^Retained accessory power. (After ignition is turned OFF, does the radio work until a door is opened or 10 minutes elapses?) Refer to Accessories and Optional Power
^Power door locks from all door lock switches. (Refer to Power Door Locks)
^Universal theft deterrent system, if equipped. (Refer to Theft Deterrent Systems.)
^Courtesy lamps with door ajar. (Refer to Interior lamps)
^Trunk release from trunk lid release switch. (Refer to Luggage compartment lid Release).
^Fuel door release from fuel door release switch. (Refer to Fuel Door Release)
2.Check fuse 6A in the I/P fuse block. If it is open, check for short to ground in CKT 640.
3.Check for a poor connection at ground G201.
4.Before component replacement, check for poor terminal contact at component and related harness connectors.
5.Check for proper installation of aftermarket electronic equipment which may affect the integrity of other systems.
6.Check for a broken (or partially broken) wire inside of insulation which could cause system malfunction but prove "GOOD" in a continuity/voltage check with a system disconnected. (Refer To General Troubleshooting Procedures).image (36).webp

Sorry for the late reply, I have not been back to the garage at Buick yet. I'll have a good look at everything and try to find the error with the help of your diagrams. I have a feeling that something is wrong with the door locks and maybe that's why there are errors. Normally, when the door is locked, the interior light should come on when the door button is pressed, but that doesn't work anymore.

Thanks again for your help.

There is a magnetic switch in the door handle that turns on interior lights when the button is pushed. Replacement with good switches from a wrecker is the only source of this part. I have some handles showing the switch, will post when I come across them when it warms up. These were on all 91-96 BPA models.
