LOST BOTH KEY - CAN ONE PROXIMITY FOB BE PROGRAMMED?

Wife lost our proximity fob. Yes, we had two. My fob is probably in one of her old pocketbooks. Truck is push to start, so that secret key is useless. Hearing that we need to program TWO fobs and not just the one we bought from dealer. I was going to go for two, but now with so much conflicting info, I am pausing? Does it have to be identical fobs? Can thrid pary do it or must be dealer? Any experiences would be appreciated.

You purchased a FOB from the dealer and they didn't program it? How did you intend to program it? You don't need two FOBS but do you want to go through a no FOB situation again?

Update: It's in the manual. Bought FOB and reprogrammed. I wondered what blade was for. After removing door handle cap it made sense. I DID IT! New FOB and car started. These things can have up to 8 FOBS. Crazy. And the sophistication.. amazing whats in these vehicles that no one knows about. Thank you Forum! HOWEVER, now the theft deterrent service light is on. Not sure how to reset. I think the blade in door has to be done. Cannot find any instructions for keyless entry.
