Low miles

I have a 2006 Buick Lacrosse.

It is annoying when the gauge goes from showing how many miles to Empty, to "Low miles".
How many actual miles do I have before the tank is empty?

Try not to allow the tank getting too low on fuel since it may damage your fuel pump.

I have found that in my '13 LaCrosse, the gas gauge drops fairly fast if gets down to a quarter tank. If the low fuel warning pops up, it only has about 2-3 2.5 gallons left. Best way to figure out for sure is to check your fuel capacity in the manual and when the message pops up, gas it up and see how much it takes to fill it compared to the capacity.

My wife had trouble understanding that principle until I asked her "How many miles per gallon do you get when the engine is idling in the driveway?"
