Hello All....since I'm here visiting the forum...responding to a thread..I figured I'd ask a question. Does anyone have any experience taking their headliner down and putting it back?
I'm pretty heavily into car audio, so with my lucerne I've done quite a bit, and continue to customize. So my entire trunk is heavily deadened several times over. What I'm looking to do is deaden my roof.. so my question is, does anyone have any experience removing the roof liner? And if so, did you come across any problems or issues or there any tips you might be able to forward... has always any responses are appreciated. And let me just say. Oh, how I wish our back seats folded down!! 😁20250103_131724.webp20241230_130203.webp

As a note the trunk lock can fail and without a key it's a PITA to open. With the speaker box you should have a extension wire on the emergency trunk pull prior to the day off.

That's some serious sound!

You said that you mod'd the trunk to be deadened. I pulled the carpet back and noticed sheet metal under the carpet floor, and was surprised. Buick talked up the QuietTuning for the Lucerne so I'd expected a thick foam, tape, or spray-on sound absorber back there. Nope.

What areas did you mod to sound deaden?

And which areas were good enough from the factory?

Hello...I agree I also didn't notice any from factory... unless it's coating from underneath. I mean the carpeting they fo use is quite thick... so Maybe it's sound absorbing on it's own. I spent hundreds on sound deadening and covered everything I could in the trunk and it's lid.

I'm looking at Lizard Skin, Dynomat, and Boom Mat.

I'd think the spray stuff is good for tight spaces and gaps. The mat stuck to large surfaces.

I think the door gaskets need improving too. I hear more road noise that I expected from the lower door panel. Maybe another gasket stuck to the bottom door trim would help...

But I've never done sound deadening so not sure of what really works for our Lucernes...

There are alot of options out there...and deadening can get quite expensive. Although I have used several different brands, including the Amazon variety which did well in testing. I tend to stick to 80 mil. Butyl. Second Skin carries a very good reputation...as does Killmat dynamat and Siless.
