Buick Ownership
1999 Buick Park Avenue Ultra (Supercharged) , 1977 Buick Electra Limited (350 SBB)
So many of you know me well here, I seem to make a name for myself around here lol. In middle of 2021 my 1999 Park Avenue Ultra suffered catastrophic transmission damage after peeling from a stop sign. Long story short, i ended up with every gear being a forward gear(including neutral) except reverse which became a park basically. I had a lot of granola in my pan and my fluid looked like a strawberry milkshake (but did not taste like one)

Lots been going on, but I have been driving my 1996 f150 and now my 2005 chevy 2500hd and been working, and soon I will have enough to get another park avenue. my budget is going to be 1500-3500. I just got my first big paycheck today, 1400 taken home. And two weeks from today should be more than that. So I am looking for another 2nd gen park avenue but im not limiting myself to that. I would prefer a 2004 or 2005 model year and I am definitely needing an ultra, otherwise I need to swap my still good L67 from my 1999 sitting out back. But we will see. I may even go for a Lesabre limited if I find a good deal. The marketplace for vehicles lately has been wack so either way I will be in another running buick.

I could fix my park avenue, even pay someone to replace the trans. But I have rusty fuel lines and who knows when that will cause me issues. But other than that.. it still does work in everyway. Not gonna lie that option may have come back into the picture if I cant find any car reasonably far away for a good price.

I don't know much about milkshakes, but when you say 'strawberry' does that mean the fluid was whitish/pink? That means coolant leaked in to the fluid.
I'm sorry to hear you are not able to actually drive the car in your avatar. I wouldn't let rusty fuel lines keep me from fixing it. That's no big deal. I'm surprised they are not plastic, mine are but they might not be original.
Otherwise I hope you get a good deal on on a PA... post some pics if you get one.

it wasnt coolant but it was air. the reason it had air in it is beside the point lol but that is NOT a good thing to see in your ATF

Im sorry about your trans going on you. On the other hand, in excited about you buying another Park Avenue. Wish I had the money to buy all of the park avenues for sale . Are you going for an Ultra or base PA? Please share pictures when you buy it 🙃

I have the base model with every option except the blower and HD transmission lol. I need brakes and rotors on the rear axle . Jiffy lube quoted me $500, that's not happening 🙄 need to get some quotes to see if I can get it done for 350ish.

what makes you think that? You have a low mileage park avenue right?
Most likely the back brakes are fine

Nope, 172,000 miles and the rear rotors are warped. I have family coming to visit next month and guess who gets to play Las Vegas taxi 🙈

if you do get your rear brakes done you should get these parts

the bottom one may or not be coated (rotor) but either are fine options. The pad set is going to last the rest of the life of the car. And the springs are used to keep the pads from dragging as much as possible (extend life, reduce noise) and the hardware kit has new boots and stuff. Your calipers are most likely OK so putting new hardware on is the way to go.

Thank you for that info ! I'll have to order them and find a mechanic to do them for me . Our reliable mechanic sold his shop and left town without telling us. New owners are dishonest thieves . Wish I could do the job myself and save money 💰

Where are you searching for your Park Ave? Craigslist, FB marketplace, used car dealerships? I bought my last car on CarGurus - check out if you haven't.

Most likely Facebook. But I’ll check it out thank you

If your still searching, 2 PAU s have come up on the southern cal CL pages in the past month or two. I would have grabbed the blue one but i have too many. I will post any ads i see, or, i can forward directly to you. You have all of our admiration! Carry on Buick Girl.

You have too many Park Avenues? Im jelous lol. Wish I could have even 2

And you are a fountain of Knowledge! Between us all, we will keep these gems alive. I sometimes feel my job in life is to try and use up all the local, beautiful low mileage large Buicks out there. Ive owned dozens of 60s and 70s Buicks during my time but now im in love with the PAUs. Its sad what Buick is doing these days.
The other gentlemen who suggested Cargurus is correct, there are a couple PAUs on there now. Hard to find any low mileage ones though.
They made 3000 (?) special edition black ones in 2005 I'm told. I think they are all stored away, I've only ever seen one on the resale market.

Happy hunting!

Well I came to the realization that I can't order the rotors and carry them due to my health , carpel tunnel in both wrists, tendentious in both elbows, blown disc with a pinched nerve in my neck , damaged shoulder from a previous torn rotor cuff and severe degenerative disc disease in my lower back 🙈
I ended up going to a chain place called Brake Masters and paid $393 for pads and rotors with a lifetime warranty. That was the best price I could find. AAA Service center wanted $600 !!!

So did you get a new PA yet? Im excited to see it 🙃

no im still waiting for another pay check, depending on how big it i s i may have to wait till after the 1st of the year lol
I want to buy one in nicer shape so that its a longer investment

depending on how many options i find I may end up settling for less or an older one but we will see

Here in Las Vegas Park Avenues are so scarce . I think I own the only one in the valley . I've seen a few LeSabres but never PAs . It took me 4 months to actually find one in the ads online and I bought it. Believe it or not I bought it through the Offer Up app. It's an app where ppl sell used items . Not sure if you've heard of it but add it to your list of car shopping venues . Best of luck 🤞
