All troubleshooting indicates I need a PCM for my 1996 Roadmaster Collectors Edition Wagon.

Apparently this needs to be programmed for my VIN, or will any 1996 PCM for this model work?

And does anyone know where the best place with the best price sells these. Reliability is critical of course.

Thanks for any help.

You will have no problems with the PCM vendor mentioned in the link below & programmed to tour VIN, ready to plug in & play!

What is this "Security Measure" doing with the link I posted? That is insane!

I have a master mechanic who tells me that any of these for a 1996 Roadmaster does not need to be programmed to my VIN, but will work with any from that model year.

Do you know if this is true, HotZ28?

More than likely that is true. The same part number is used for the Impala-SS, Cadillac Fleetwood, Firebird & Corvette with the same LT1 of that year.

It seems likely those other models might have the same PCM, but would need different programming. We will see what comes out of a local bone yard in a day or two, once my guy gets it out. Thanks for your posts.
