Wondering if you guys have ran into this. I just put new rotors and hawk HPS pads on the car last night, drove it about 30km and checked it this morning to find the following; it's an odd wear on the top side of the rotor (left and right both the same).

It's being ground down on an angle... I drove the car down a one way street with cars parked along each side. Windows down, head out the window, I can hear what sounds like a metallic friction like when our brakes are low or dirt in between the pad and rotor (just describing the sound).

Any ideas?

These are the rotors that I got for the car https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00PM2UZ5Q/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1

New pads take a few miles to bed in to the new rotors. They usually sound like that just in the beginning. Not sure if hawks have it but most pads will have a bed in coating to on top. Follow the sheet that came with the pads on how to break them in

Thanks for the reply! Yeah, I'm sure the pads will settle in time, but the sound I don't think is from the pads.

It may not be clear in the pics, but my issue is the rotors are clearly grinding on something (I'm thinking it's the calipers). In the pics you'll note the top edge of the outside face of the rotor is ground down (looks a bit shiny). Definitely didn't come like that out of the box.

I'll be pulling it apart later today to see if I can find out what's happening. I checked the part no. on Ac Delco's website and it appears to be correct; lists the G8 GXP and SS Camaro's with the same part number and those cars both use the same front Brembo setup.

did you measure the diameter and thickness of the old rotors. Using the Amazon site you provided they come up with two numbers with different diameters and thickness for a 2012 GS. Using a GM dealer parts site, Tonkin http://www.tonkinonlineparts.com/sh...15837&modelYear=2012&searchString=brake+rotor, they come up with a third number that is different than the Amazon numbers. The rotors measure either 12.9 or 13.6 or 15.x

I didn't no... I just laid the new rotors over the old ones to make sure they were about the same diameter, which they were... thickness, I never thought to measure. I'll pull them off today and see how they stack up to the old ones I still have.

The part no. is 18A2937 which matches the part no. on the AC Delco website for our car. It is also the same part no. for the G8 GXP and Camaro SS which used the same brembo caliper setup.

**SOLVED**

Figured it out... it was nothing... upon removing the tire and inspecting the caliper for wear and contact, I had a genius idea to check out the new rear rotors I haven't installed yet; and saw the same "angled" edge to them.
