Buick Ownership
1994 Buick Roadmaster
Hello, I am new to this forum and just bought a “new” Roadmaster. It’s an awesome car and only has 77k. This is my first one and the 5.7 is a beast! I’m only the third owner. Overall it’s in good shape and doesn’t have any leaks! It’s white with the blue interior and is awesome. It has a few issues that will need to be ironed out.
-Radio doesn’t work
-ABS light is on
-Passenger window doesn’t work
-Drivers side window gets stuck going up

This car is going to be my daily driver and my commute is 70 total miles, I’m hopeful it’s a strong reliable car for me! I appreciate the future help I’m sure I’ll seek on here. Thank you!

Bienvenido.. espero lo disfrutes

Welcome to the forum! I have a 95 sedan so should be similar. I bought mine a year and a half ago or so. I had similar issues and addressed them while I still in the honeymoon phase of my purchase. After some time some more issues have crept back in and will need to be addressed again.

-Radio doesn’t work
I replaced mine with a cheap single din head unit from Walmart. Panasonic. I think 94s are either 1.5 or double din. The process isn't terribly difficult as compared to my experience taking off the dash in a 92 which never ended up getting put back on before the transmission blew. Radio wiring diagrams were found online. I think you'll need an adapter, pretty straight forward. I felt like all the wiring and adapters made putting it back in a bit difficult but after some pushing and readjusting its in there.

-ABS light is on
Mine is as well most of the time, 80%+. I have not done anything to address this, just drive carefully in the rain I guess.

-Drivers side window gets stuck going up

These are common issues in this car. You'll probably need to open the door panels and replace and lube some plastic pieces (Dorman Part #74444) to get them working right. I did the front passenger side door and its slow to roll up but works. I regret not doing the driver side door because it has failed in the last year and a half so I have to keep a hand on it while rolling up and down.

There are pretty good guides on either this forum or the impalass forum or the wagon forum to do this. Compressing the dorman roller into the bar can be a pain but with patience it is doable. I believe I used a small (4-6"?) pair of channel lock pliers to do so.

While you're in there you may as well replace the speakers. I blew my cheapies out already so I need to replace those when I fix the windows again.

Another issue with the slow windows may be the motor.

Also my switches on the driver side door don't work for the rest of the car so I have to lean over and use them on the doors they're on.

Good luck!

Wow, thank you for the info! I really appreciate it. I’ll definitely do the speakers while I do that with the door panels. I’m thinking I’ll just drive careful with the abs and not worry about that right now. This forum does have tons of good info.

My windows used to be slow as well , I just ended up replacing the motors eventually . And those plastic guides wear out so you might try doing those first. Mine were completely gone on my driver's window. Also lube them to that will def help.
