2011 Buick LaCrosse CXL
Hi All,

Traded in a 2011 Hyundai Genesis 4.6 on 27 October for a new 2011 Summit White/beige LaCrosse CXL. The ONLY reason I traded the Gen was my bad back (L4-L5, S1), which makes sitting for long periods painful and can't stand a harsh ride. I loved everything about the Genesis except the very harsh ride. Yes, I test drove it.... long story.

Anyhow, I love the LaCrosse. the ride is ten times smoother, plus it has amazing features. I do miss the adaptive cruise and stop hold features on the Genesis, but the head up (which I had on my BMW 550), the lane change warning symbols, and touch screen for nav and other systems, 18 gallon fuel tank, and other features.
I would upload an avatar and some pics but this forum and my jpgs are not getting along.

I've enjoyed reading the mostly positive threads on the first couple of pages, and look forward to learning more from forum members.

Welcome to the club. Did you get an AWD? Have mine 10 months and loving it.

Without a doubt this car is the most comfortable I've owned while still giving me good road feel. It's a comfortable ride without giving you that insulated 'gliding' feeling of some luxury cars I've been in.

Welcome aboard the USS LaCrosse.

To the OP, we have something in common. I just got out of an 09 Genesis for the same reason. The ride was completely unacceptable. I bought mine and knew it was firm, but until I drove it on the roads I drive everyday I didn't notice how jittery and unsettled it was.

I've had my 2012 LaCrosse PIII, NAV, DC for about a month now and really like it. The seats in the Genesis were a little better, but the ride in LaCrosse MORE than makes up for it.

Welcome to the group! I test drove the Genesis and also felt it to be "jittery". I have had my 2012 LaCrosse just a couple weeks and am still learning.....
I have the 3.6 and the power is awesome, strong and smoothe! It will set you back in the seat with a lot less than full pedal.

Welcome!
I was all set on a Genesis, until I drove it. The ride was so jittery I got nauseous.
Very disappointed. Walked across the street to the Buick dealer, and the LaCrosse just so much more refined.
I still love the Genesis in every other way except slow to react steering, but remind myself evertytime I see one how much the ride stunk.

Welcome aboard! And thank you for signing up. Were you a member at www.genesisowners.com? In any event, the LaCrosse is luxury first, sport second. The Genesis is the other way around. Both really nice cars... Congratulations on your Buick LaCrosse! Like Hyundai, Buick is taking impressive strides forward...

I am a member over at GenesisOwners lots of great info and people over there. I know that many of them disagreed with me about the ride of the Genesis, but that is what forums are for.

I spent time there as well before purchasing.
Seems the ride doesn't bother many, but for those who had an issue, it was big.

Hyundai is on the right track, but that's not how a sports sedan should ride.
Spend some time behind the wheel of a BMW and you learn quick that solid handling doesn't have to mean a jittery, rock-hard suspension.

Hyundai will get it right one day, but to me it was unacceptable for any daily driver.
You won't find any issues with the LaCrosse's ride, even though it's no sports sedan.

On Nov. 5,2011 after 9,200 miles and 1.5 years in my 2010 Genesis 4.6 I traded for a 2012 Buick LaCrosse Premium II with all options except rear seat DVD.
I was considering a 2012 Genesis 4.6 but I did not see that big of an improvement with ride over rough surfaces. The 2012's also seem to be suffering from some of the same issues I had with my 2010, tilt wheel,audio/nav failure and wrinkles in driver seat.
My main concern was Hyundai not addressing the issues.
I find the LaCrosse everything the Genesis was not in ride comfort and when I look at all the features of the LaCrosse I wonder now if it is not the better value. It is nice to have the heated steering wheel ,height adjustment passenger seat, remote start, heads up display and On Star again. I like the fact that the fuel door locks but I do miss the inside release for fuel door and trunk but no big deal as key fob and release button works just fine for me. The over size moon roof letting in constant light through the sun shade is a little different but I am getting use to it more each day, at night you really have to be under bright light for the light to come through so than it feels like a car with the regular sun shade that lets in no light.
The ports on the hood are new for me as I would not even put the Genesis Wings on the hood of my Genesis but I do think the ports compliment the hood and the car as without them IMO the hood would look massive but the car would still be attractive.
I find the LaCrosse to be more striking than the Genesis and I wonder if Hyundai did not copy the rear sides of the LaCrosse when they built the Equus.
I do not understand the reviews that speak of the small trunk (13 cu ft) of the LaCrosse but fail to mention that the rear seats fold down allowing for more cargo space if needed.
Side and rear visibility is slightly restricted but as long as I can see what I need to see no problem, the front view is awesome. With the moon roof the LaCrosse seems to have more glass to clean.
Some say that the 2013 Cadillac will be no more than a dressed up LaCrosse but I say no more than the Equus being a dressed up Genesis. IMO If the XTS is like the LaCrosse:Hyundai,Mercedes,Audi,BMW,Toyota had better be very worried as both the LaCrosse and XTS are worthy contenders. Not every body wants the feel of the road nor RWD.
