Buick Ownership
2012 Regal GS
Well I never thought I would say this, but I am a...Buick owner.... I was in the market for a car and, long story short, I came across my 2012 Regal GS 6MT and fell in love. It has the luxury I was going for, and then some, the power I wanted, a manual, it was white (ish) with black interior, and it only has 80K miles on it. I just started driving it a couple of days ago and people keep asking me what it is and think I paid a lot of money for it. They are surprised on both counts!

Well I do have one issue I am hoping the forum can help me out with. My drivers lock (ONLY Lock) is screwy when I get in/out and my key doesn't work.

1) Physical key turns in the cylinder, but nothing happens. I even tried to program a spare fob and turning the key 5 times doesn't give me any messages on the dash about programming. The lock stick thing does not pop up so I am guessing something is broken/disconnected in there, but I don't know. I have tried to write several parts stores, but I get generic AI responses or an answer that says sorry, we don't know.

Does anyone know which parts might have gone bad to cause these issues? When I look at the parts diagrams, I see several parts, but I have no clue which ones could be causing the issues. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

2) The other issue with the lock is when I try to exit, the first time I pull the handle it seems to hit something and I have to pull the handle several times to get the door to open. If the car is locked via the dash button and the car is running, I cannot open the door without physically grabbing the lock stick thing and holding it up. Then I have to pull the handle several times to finally get it open.

I think both problems are related and I will buy whatever parts I need to fix it, but I just can't tell what parts I need from the exploded parts diagram online.

Also, one other question, does your 11-13 AC suck when at a stoplight and begin blowing the humid-ish air? The radiator fan is blowing on low, but it seems like it is not enough when stopped. I know the fans work because I had a bi-directional scanner and can activate them, it just seems like the car is not triggering the "High" mode when it is too hot.

I am definitely loving the car and plan on driving it for a very long time!

Interior door panel has to be removed to determine the cause of the lock issue.
A set of AC gauges are required to determine if you are low on refrigerant.
