Buick Ownership
2008 Buick lacrosse cx
What can cause a 2008 Buick lacrosse cx 3.8 to be low on oil? I have looked and can not find any oil leaks and it doesn’t smoke out of the exhaust pipe and there is nothing on the ground where it sits.

it's low after how many miles? how low? how many miles on the car?

It’s got right at 82000 on it and maybe half a quart at times I think it’s not draining back like it should I got some stuff today that I am trying first to see what happens.

Oil consumption in older engines can happen for any number of reasons, including worn piston rings, oil pan seals, etc. One thing you don't mention is the interval at which you have to add oil. Is it every hundred miles or every thousand miles? The latter in an older car quite common. Both of my cars have a little more than 130,000 miles on them and I can count on having to add a quart every 1,000-1,500 miles; in fact, I even carry a quart in the trunk at all times in case I need to add it while I'm out. My driveway slants downhill enough to throw the dipstick readings off, so I make a point of checking it at work when I'm parked on level ground, and I then have oil on hand if it's critically low.

I don’t think it is using oil because there is no oil smoke from the exhaust pipe I think all of it is not draining back into the oil pan I bought some stuff that’s supposed to clean the engine I am trying it to see if it helps.
