Just got a 2024 Encore GX. I use an automatic car regularly and it is not brushless. I know the factory antenna will flex and I’m sure it’d be fine to occasionally run it through the car wash but I wash my car sometimes daily and over time know it would not be good to do.

I really do not want to get into a discussion about “you shouldn’t use an automatic car wash”. I know I shouldn’t. But I’m old and can’t hand wash anymore and I’m too poor to pay someone to do it on a daily basis! 😜

So anyway back to my question. Is there any hazard to just removing it entirely (the screw in part that I presume is solely for AM/FM). I know my reception will suffer but I rarely use terrestrial radio. My main concern is the remote possibility of any possible water intrusion that may cause me issues down the line? I would think not but just looking for some reassurance.

TIA!

Taking the screw-on antenna off will not create a water leak. Your welcome.

I think the earlier years of your car had short stubby antennas. I wonder if that would be a better way to go if it fit.
