I posted this in What did you do to your LeSabre today, but nobody will find it without a different title.
Replaced one of my parking lamp bulbs in the front lower bumper of the limited. After that, noticed that I had a strange light on one side called a cornering lamp that was working (the round lens between the headlamp and side turn signal). Burnt out bulb on the other side. Replaced that bulb. Then noticed that I wasn't getting the turn signal that alternated between the parking lamp bulb in the lower bumper, and the side turn signal bulb. Replaced the side turn signal bulb.
Cornering laps are a bit obsolete. I didn't even know I had them. But they do help to make the car look better.
I believe I figured out that all 00-05 customs and limiteds have the parking lamps in the bumper that are on when the car is on, day or night. Along with the daytime running lights. The age of most LeSabres has caused most parking lamp filaments to burn out by now and if both sides are burnt out, many people don't even know they have them.
There are two filaments in the parking lamp bulbs. One is just for lighting, and one is for the front turn signal. If the parking lamps are not on all the time, you may have a burnt bulb in something you didn't know you even had (like me).
The turn signals still work when the side turn signal bulbs are burnt out, which makes that one tricky to notice.
Parking lamps that are on during the day isn't a feature on most cars. I do think they help make the LeSabre look better than most.
The alternating front and side turn signals definitely make the car look better than most...
Went from a one-bulb to a three-bulb project.
