I own a 1998 LeSabre Limited:headbang: Yesterday i went to my local shop to get my A/C checked out because it wasnt working. They had told me that the "service valve" was leaking so they replaced it and did an evac and recharge (i ended up finding out that they completely overcharged me for the little that they did..:banghead: so i really dont want to deal with them anymore:madswear:). I figured i could fix this small issue myself with the help of some of your good ol' fashion experience.. how hard could it be?😉 Anyway my issue is that my passenger side vents are blowing out "room temperature air" while the driver side vents are working just fine. Ive came to the conclusion that the problem must be from some sort of blend door or actuator (not sure if those are the same thing😕) Im just not too sure which part i should be looking for to replace or where its even located:blink:

Thanks.

From your description is does sound like a blend/temp door actuator problem. The door is called either temp or blend - same thing. And the little black motor box that moves the door is called an actuator. Most likely the passenger side actuator is broken - there are a few reasons why it would not be working but most of the time it's the white nylon gear inside the actuator has cracked and can't turn the linkage to rotate the door to open and close. As the door opens it allows more cold air to come into the passenger side and as it closes the more warmer air you get.

You can do a search with the Advanced Search feature on the almost top right of the page anywhere on this website - search for actuator blend temp mode and you'll see a lot of responses with large amount of info.

Here are a few links to different A/C systems - you'll have to pick the one that the parts match for - you can also pull off the A/C code on the RPO sticker to make sure which A/C system you have. It should be CJ2 or C67 - the easiest way to tell from the parts is to look under behind the glove box and hush panel that's where the parts are mostly different.

By the way - I think your actuators may be vacuum controlled - in that case you'll see little rubber tubes of different colors.

Also - here's a diagram for the heater system - http://parts.nalleygmc.com/showAssembly.aspx?ukey_assembly=368250&ukey_make=1022&ukey_model=14443&modelYear=1998&ukey_category=19390&ukey_trimLevel=15001
