I was wondering if anyone knows of any performance mods that are or will be availible for the GS? Stage kits? Reflash the computer? Hand held tuner? Tuning software? Thanks for any info.

From all the testing I've done there will be a smidgen of power left in the cal but the turbo is pretty much maxed out at the factory output so don't expect major power without digging into it 😉

So we can Un-Do the De-Tune on our 2011 CXL Turbos, basically? :headbang:

Well considering the LNF uses the exact same turbo and there are people who make between 300-340 whp and 320-380 wtq with a Trifecta tune and bolt on's only and I think you are wrong about the turbo.

What is needed is support in the form of bolt on's.

The internals are good for 450 whp before anything needs replacing on the Ecotec turbo engines.

OP,
Best bet is to get a hold of Vince @ Trifecta Performance and talk to him. This is the second 2.0 Ecotec turbo powered vehicle I have been tuned by him and he's nothing but great to work with
The man really knows his stuff.
I mean he got a 61 whp / 51 wtq bump on the Regal T without any bolt on's and stock, so with the bigger exhaust on the GS I could see a Regal GS making 300 whp pretty easy.

Correct hence why I said I didn't think there was much left in the Cal and about digging into it. Since there aren't any parts for these cars yet I was talking stone stock tuning only 😉 Guess I should have worded it more concisely I had one of the manual 11's I was doing development on pushing right just shy of 295whp and you could tell it was big time struggling to breathe.

Guys trust me when i say this Chris is a smart guy and knows what he is talking about. He had one of the baddest Grand Prix GTP's at one time Way back before there was hundreds of parts vailable for them. He knows his small forced induction engines.

He also knows how to activate the shift light, install blue led's on gauge clusters and add color changing needles on a 2004 GTO as well.😀

As for bolt-ons. I email Injen, Hahn Racecraft, ZZP Performance and Synapse Motor Sports yesterday asking if they are developing bolt-ons for the Regal turbo. The bolt-ons I inquired about are CAI, I/C Charge Piping, Downpipe, and Cat Back system. So far ZZP and Synapse responded. ZZP stated that they are developing bolt-ons and are about a year out. Synapse stated that they could develop the parts but would need a car in their shop for about a week. I know that Magnaflow is working on a cat back system and Borla (David) posted on this site a while ago asking owners if they have any interest in a Borla system. I have not seen any updates regarding Borla.

Mike

Chris also reprogrammed the G8 Radios to remove the Video shut off above 1 mph. He surely knows his stuff and has very reasonable pricing for his services. I'm glad to see him here!

I had this big typed out thing as a reply to this post, but instead I will leave you guys to come up with ideas of what works and doesn't work with these engines. DI engines aren't your normal gasoline engines and some rules do/don't apply to them as far as FI goes.

I've been there and done that with past DI Ecotec 2.0 turbo engines and as far as the Regal goes (lack of after market), I already have upper/lower ic pipes, a custom O2 housing without a CAT and the most aggressive Trifecta tuning thus far on a Regal T.

Treadstone in Florida will make parts also if someone is willing to loan there car to them.
I had it set up with them to make HHR SS specific parts, but no one ever came through and provided a vehicle for them to do R&D on.

I'm sure they would be more then happy to provide turbo regal parts, like a intake, down pipe if they had a reliable test car to use.

They are located in Miami.

Yuppers! I had an 09 Cobalt SS that made 320WHP SAE on 93 octane and basic bolt ons and the first Regal Turbo I tuned made 285WHP SAE on 93 octane as well although I saw major restrictions at that point on this car.
