I just bought a 2001 LaSabre at 97,000 miles, for $2600.
But on three occasions, I would be trying to back out of a driveway or a parking space, and the voltage light would come on. Soon after, the car would lose all power. After a few attempts, the car would restart. Before I parked the car, I would usually have the air conditioning or the radio turned on, so I’m guessing it has to be some kind of electrical problem. I got the free battery and alternator test at an AutoZone, and they’re both fine according to the test.
I’ve been trying to avoid the problem since then by not turning on the AC or the radio, and so far, I haven’t had the problem again. The car runs fine. The only other apparent problem is a wonky dashboard (the little screen showing the odometer and gauge readings needs to be tapped sometimes to display information correctly).
What else could be causing such a problem?
