I have a 2002 rendezvous and the radiator has started leaking. I've done a few google searches and just went thru ever thread in here and cannot find instructions. Has anyone on here done this job... I'm just wondering if there is anything I need to be aware of before I start the job. Trying to avoid surprises. Thanks for any help!

I have a 2002 Buick Rendezous and noticed the radiator was leaking. I tried searching the "interwebs"for directions and basically there is nothing. I found this surprising considering all of the stories about over heating and so-forth. This is not a difficult job and is pretty straight forward. Ignore the one story out there about this being a nightmare job and any instructions that say you need to discharge the a/c system, this is not true!

1. Remove Coolant reservoir.
2. Remove upper chassis braces.
3. Remove air filter cover with mass air sensor
4. Remove the 8 bolts that hold the front (upper) engine mounts to chassis. The engine will move backward about 1 inch once removed. Rotate the mounts over the top of the engine.
5. Drain coolant from the radiator
6. Remove upper radiator hose.
7. Remove upper rubber isolator radiator mounts
8. Remove the two bolts (one in each upper corner) that hold the fan shroud, radiator and condenser together.
9. Remove the upper transmission cooler line. Cover line to protect from contamination. **To remove these lines you need to remove the clip and the line will slide out. Do not try and put a wrench on the fitting, it's part of the radiator.
10. Disconnect the wire harness going to the fans.
11. Remove the metal heat shield from the drivers side fan, this will allow the space needed to remove the shroud.
12. Remove the fan shroud.
13. Remove lower radiator hose
14. Remove lower transmission coolant line.
15. Remove clamp that secures the condenser lines to the radiator (drivers side)
16. Remove the bolt the secures the radiator to the condenser (this is just below the clamp you removed in step 15)
17. Remove radiator. **Raise the condenser slightly to free it from the radiator.

** I purchased my radiator from autopartswarehouse.com for less than $100 shipped.
