Buick Ownership
Buick Regal 2015
Hi,

For several years now I have been facing problems with the radio screen and the radio itself, I have been to many electricians who have done diagnostics and similar but nothing has helped. I have a Buick regal 2015 and the problem is that after a night or even a short time I want to start the engine and when it starts my screen is just black. It does not respond to any touches, just a black screen. and only after using the sound signal it turns off. Maybe someone has encountered such a problem and knows how to solve this problem

I had replaced my HMI and Radio Module about a year after buying my 2015 Regal.
I wanted to have Apple Car Play and Android Auto in my car (the Radio was working flawlessly at that time).
About two years later, I drove to Home Depot (everything was fine, the Touchscreen was working).
When I got back in the car to leave, my Touchscreen was Black and the touchscreen
didn't work (no backup camera either).
I was able to listen to the Radio, but I had to change the stations using the Steering Wheel Controls.

It took me a Day or two, but I finally figured out that the 2.5 HMI Module I had installed went bad.
I ended up Troubleshooting by reinstalling my Old 2.0 HMI Module, voila' the Touchscreen worked again.
I purchased a New 2.5 HMI Module (having it Programmed to my VIN) and replaced the
Original 2.0 HMI Module (for the second time) with the New 2.5 HMI Module.
I was pretty glad that I kept my Old 2.0 HMI Module.

Anyway, my bet is that your HMI Module is on it's way out (working intermittently).
Electronics are very hard to Diagnose when they are working intermittently.
Mine just Stopped working completely and never gave me a warning.
Also, mine didn't give me any Sound Signals, the screen just went Black & stayed Black
and the Touchscreen didn't work!

BTW, you won't be able to just replace the HMI, you'll need to have it Programmed to your VIN.
Doesn't matter if you use a 2.0 HMI or a 2.5 HMI, it will have to be programmed to your VIN.
