Buick Encore on order
Just got my new encore with premium trim.
We can not figure out how to turn off an then turn back on the rain sense wipers.
Can not find anything in the owners manual that says anything about the rain sense wipers.
Please help???
Gordon

agree

just scanned the manual and it says nothing about rain sensing wipers beyond the standard intermittent feature

Thanks for looking.

The reason why I want to able to turn the rain sense on and off is because I use a car wash sometimes and they want the car in nuteral and engine running.Which when the wash starts so do the wipers..
Someone must know I hope!!

When you turn the rain sense wipers OFF, they are OFF and will not start in the car wash. The best way, imho, is to always have them OFF. Then when there's rain, just turn them to Intermittent and Rain Sense will come on. Supposedly, if you leave them on Intermittent when you turn the car off, the next time you go out in the rain Rain Sense shouldn't go on until you turn the wipers off and then back on again to Intermittent. I just got in the habit of always turning them OFF when I turn off the car just to be extra safe.

Hope that long-winded explanation helps.

Yes the manual does not mention this. You turn on the rain sensor by pushing up on the wiper stalk just one click. Turn it off by backing it down again.

I used my wipers for the first time yesterday. In fact they came on automatically. It was a very light mist. I could not adjust the interval of the intermittent wiping to be as slow/long as I would have preferred but I'll get used to it.

Used mine today for maybe the 3rd time in almost a year due to an extremely rare mini storm ... so now we're up to almost 2% of normal rainfall 🙄

They work perfectly ... very quiet with no chattering.

I for one don't understand the the rain sensing wiper thing. If I ever see rain drops on my window and cant reach up and turn on my wipers, god help me (would that make me stupid or just lazy)......at what point is all this new technology just ridiculous?

Color me lazy, wife's Encore has them, they're great 🙂

the rain sense wipers give infinite delay! they are great i have had them on older park avenues. i was so glad they re-introduced them with the encore. if it stops raining no worries if it starts again wipe as needed!

I have the Rainsense wipers, as well. I do not understand the owner's manual as to how they are supposed to work. In fact I interpreted it as to say even if you have Rainsense, you still have to set the intermittent wipers. I know after reading the posts that I must have it all wrong. Obviously that is how you must turn them on and off. I love all the new gadgets, many of them have already proven quite helpful. I plan on keeping this SUV for ten years, like my last one. This may be my last vehicle, in fact. So I have plenty of time to figure all this out. Once I get the essential safety items figured out, by then Sirius will have expired, and I can start on the radio, cd, etc. I find the parking signal most helpful, I just cannot understand why I have to turn it on each time?

Used my Rainsense the other day and they are so awesome. Turn the intermittent switch to the fastest (top) setting, your Rainsense is on. No more fooling with intermittent settings all the time. I love the Rainsense !!

OOps, I forgot to say that once you set the intermittent switch to the top level, you lift the lever they are on up one notch and that turns the wipers on with the Rainsense. The window above the steering where you read the car's info will also give you a message saying the Rainsense is on.

I have a 2007 Buick Lucerne it has the rain sensing wipers I hate them how can I turn off the rain sensor and use regular wipers

I think the main benefit is that you don't have to continually adjust the speed of the wipers as the rainfall increases or decreases. It's less time that your hands have to be away from the steering wheel to fiddle with the wiper controls.

I have a 2006 Buick lucerne and they have the wipers as well. I wish there was a way to turn the sensor off because it doesn't always work for me. I have to keep turning my wiper blades on and off in order for it to work like the sensor is supposed to.

I'm not a fan of the Rain Sense wipers, and wish I could turn them off, also. Whenever a passing vehicle splashes water on the windshield, the wipers go hyperactive.

I am a firm believer in Rainx. Unless I am going slow, water just beads off of the windshield. Rain Sense messes the whole system up. I am certainly going to explore the options above to deactivate it.

Lol it is just a new added feature that people love. I think it my help for new drivers . They will not have to take their hands off of the wheel. Welcome to the new world of technology. Have you seen the store where you use the palm of you hand to pay?
