My gas gauge went full clockwise and is rested below the stopper . I remember a while back someone mentioning to use a magnet . Was it the Rare Earth Magnet or is it a different one?

i used a 10 dollar rare earht magnet for mine to fix it before and it was overkill, you can get away with an off the shelf one if you wanted to. But the stronger the magnet the less time it takes. nmake sure to get one with a case so you dont ruin electronics accidently

my magnet flew out of my hand and blew itself up when it hit a steel plate

I tried a regular magnet and it wouldn't budge so I ended up ordering one. I'll have to remember to use caution when using it . Never seen these magnets before. Pretty wild how they can blow up 💥 thank you for your advice 🙃

Assuming all is good with the pump and circuit, try this little secret GM tech trick.
Fill the tank full.
Get a strong magnet and wrap with a tissue so you don't scratch the glass.
With the ignition on engine off place the magnet on the dash over the gas gauge.
Try and slowing twist the magnet both ways until the needle resets and goes to the full mark.
This is a common problem. I fixed many this way including my own

It’s important to note that the magnet will be used to push not pull the needle , Z

Thank you for that info! I would have done the opposite. So I have to push the needle back counterclockwise. Sorry for getting back to you late. Been in a lot of pain and the muscle relaxers make me sleepy and give me brain fog when I wake up 🤪

Ok. I'll fill the tank first . Thank you for the tip 👍

Well my gas gauge is stuck again and my rare earth magnets will not move it this time. Anyone have any suggestions or tips ?
