I'm at my wits end with the rear dome lights in my 2021 Avenir. Every day---without fail----the first time I drive the vehicle in the morning the rear dome lights in my 2021 Avenir do not turn off. The other dome lights turn off within a few seconds after I start driving. So, I manually reach back and turn them off. They them operate normally, turning on and off as expected when opening the doors, starting the vehicle, driving etc. Then, once again, after the car sits for several hours or overnight the cycle repeats.

I've talked to a service rep at our local Buick dealer and he said he has "no idea" what is causing this and that I should drop my vehicle off for a few days so that they can try and diagnose the problem. (not very comforting). Of course, they have no loaner or rental cars available and this is my only vehicle, so I will have to go to Enterprise or another rental company and pay to rent a car for a few days----which I fear could turn into a much longer time

The car has less 17,000 miles on it.

Does anyone have any thoughts on this?? Has anyone else experienced this? I discovered this was happening after I got a proactive service alert from GM (SAC 005) which is related to a possible battery/starter issue. It appears that before I realized what was happening, the rear dome lights were on for close to 15 hours and had drained down the battery enough to trigger this alert---fortunately, the vehicle started.

Any suggestions are appreciated

My dealer is great about giving loaner cars but they now call it "concierge service". Someone drives a loaner to your house and then they take your car in for service. When the repair is finished they return yours and take back the loaner.

We've done this a few times with our older 2014 Encore that needed work and it was great. They didn't always have a car for us to use immediately and said "if you can wait until whatever day next week, we can give you a car then after when we get some of them back in". My dealer sells Honda/Buick/GMC and for some reason they always brought a Honda (Civic or HRV) but free wheels is free wheels 🙂

If your dealer isn't doing loaners at all I guess renting one yourself may be your only option but I'd double check that they are not doing loaners at all vs don't have any at the moment because other customers have them all checked out. Best of luck to you, sorry about the annoying lighting glitch.

I read it may be an issue with the BCM or Body Control Module, or the many fuses associated with it. Im currently searching the internet for this exact issue with my sister's car.

Any luck finding a fix?

Having the exact same issue, read that it may be an issue when the battery gets low on power it will start to do this. Not what would be considered low enough it wouldn't start, but it somehow causes the rear dome lights to come on when starting it. I haven't changed my battery yet to find out. I am a little concerned if this is is the problem, are we going to need to change our batteries every year??

I would connect a battery charger to the battery overnight before paying for a new battery. See if that solves the issue. At least it would answer your question about the battery being the issue. And a 2021 should still be under factory warranty, no???

I have the exact same problem and now with the same vehicle. In addition, the rear lights now come on when he are sitting at a light. I believe this should be a recall.

I'm also having this issue with my 2021 Envision. Sometimes, the dome lights turn on when I put my car in reverse! So, the lights are off as I'm driving around, I pull into a parking lot to use my phone real quick while the car idles. The minute I put it into reverse to pull out, the lights come on and stay on. I put a pencil in my car to help me reach back and manually turn off the lights. Is it possible that the latest software update did this? I've never had this issue before.

Same issue but car died on me for the first time today the domes lights it was 1 now both taking it tomorrow to get it checked out

I have the same issue with my 2021 Envision. Lights have to be manually turned off. If I don't turn off the auto start/stop, and stop at a light, when I drive the lights come on again.

I know your struggle! I have been using the snow brush. Is there a fix for this? (2021 Buick Envision 40K miles)

I have the same issue. I turned off the auto stop/start. I just had my oil changed and the battery tested fine. The tech said he's heard replacing the battery should fix it but stopped short of saying it WOULD fit it. I was quoted $300 for a battery replacement at the dealership for my 2021 with 40k miles.

I am going to the dealer Monday. I will let you know what they say.

This happened to my wife's '21 Envision November 2023 where interior lights would come on after the first stop where the engine shut off and restarted to accelerate. A few weeks later, we had some really warm weather in early December and the sunroof struggled to close. About 2 weeks later we received a letter from GM stating that we needed to come in and have the battery tested. I immediately came to the conclusion that all these car issues were battery related. I was correct. The dealer replaced the battery under warranty. The new battery solved these issues. After that I turn off the auto stop/start at the beginning of every trip. I think the engineers need to better design a battery that can handle the excessive number of stop/starts.

... or abandon that ridiculous start/stop system altogether since it is pretty much useless at saving fuel.

Has anyone gotten this warning:

Your 2021 Buick Envision detects a battery high resistance or battery connection issue. The battery is needed to start the vehicle. To avoid a situation where you can't start your vehicle, please schedule service with your preferred service provider as soon as possible, so they can determine if your battery needs replacing. You can still drive your Buick but it may become harder to start. And if the battery does fail, you will not be able to start the vehicle. Please disregard this message if your vehicle is in for service (as this could be a false notification if the vehicle is in for service and the service being performed affects this component).

Service Code SAC002

My dealer told me this is an erroneous message and should be ignored. I still have the same battery that came with my 2021 Envision.

Today I received this message:

Low air pressure has been detected in one or more tires on your 2021 Buick Envision.

- Passenger Side Rear (37PSI)

When did 37PSI become a low pressure?!?!

Well, at 55,000 miles, I finally needed a battery. It just barely started my car this morning. I took it to Buick, and they replaced the battery. Now, my interior lights turn off automatically. They said there were some low-voltage error codes they had to clear.

So, after almost a year and 15,000, (and a few visits to Buick) I drove with the inconvenience of manually turning off the rear dome lights. That tells me it is a bad design. Up until even today, the battery started my car. Why should I have to change my battery prematurely so that the dome lights work correctly!?!?

Hopefully, I am good for another 40K-50K of automatic interior lights!
