My son just bought a used 2012 Lacrosse Touring. It has the 3.6L engine and only has 45,000. I had him bring it over this afternoon so I could check it over good and put a trickle charge on the battery. (He bought it off a used car lot and it had been there since October 2022 - figured the battery needs a good trickle charge even though it starts fine). In my process of checking things over, I found that the remote start doesn't work. ALL OTHER FUNCTIONS ON THE KEY FOB WORK. Locks and unlocks the doors, trunk opens and panic alarm works - on BOTH remotes. But the remote feature does nothing? Lock the doors and hold the remote start button for two seconds and the fog lights flash, but engine doesn't start?!
Looking through the manual, I can't find a specific fuse for this. Looking for some help.

Never mind. I had the hood open while charging the battery and I read that the remote start will NOT work if the hood is open. Took the battery charger off, shut the hood and no problem! 🙂

Appears in post #2 it was resolved.

This is one of the many safety features...for e.g. pressing the gas before pressing the start button will shut the engine off.

Also remote start will NOT work if you have a check engine light on.
