I just got my first ever new car on Oct 31, a 2013 Buick Verano.

It's Summit White so I considered naming it Kasper because of Halloween but our family tradition is to use a woman's name that has the same first letter as the car model...

So it's Veronica Verano (sorry Betty)

I wasn't shopping for a Verano so much as I needed to trade in my 2009 Pontiac G5 that I got pre-owned in Dec 2011 from a Ford dealer on a really bad finance rate.

Because there was negative equity on my trade, I needed the $1000 GM 10-Day Sale inscentive on top of $1500 loyalty bonus for the trade in of a GM product AND the $4500 dealer clearance discount off 2013 models to offset what I already owed the bank. The only 2013 car they had left in my price range was the Verano.

Lucky for me!

I'll tone down my excitement and get to my question.

I have a base model Verano so there's no remote starter in it but it does have OnStar. The iPhone app allows me to lock/unlock the doors and activate lights/horn.

Before getting an aftermarket remote starter I was doing some research and came across a PDF for a unit called a DBALL GM-10-RSR.

It refers to the Verano being RSR (remote start ready) and compatible with SmartStart and XpressStart units.

It sounds like I can simply add a module to the BCM (body control module) and I'll be able to use the OnStar to remote start the car.

Has anyone tried this and what all is required to make it work properly?

Thanks,
Chris
