Replacement key fob is partially programmed but will not start car. Car reads “no remote detected” but the remote can unlock lock and open the trunk.

I got a replacement key fob and have gotten it synced to my car but the key only unlocks locks and pops the trunk. Starting the car doesn’t work

Car also says “no remote detected” with that key fob.

If I take out the cupholder and place the key into the key slot it does actually start the car. But the car even when started reads “no remote detected” Push to start has not worked yet but clearly the key is at least partially synced with the car

Wondering if you have any suggestions. Thanks

I am having similar issues. The fob that came with my used regal GS does same thing. I have to put it in the cupholder pocket to get the car to crank, and remote start isn't working either. I bought 2 brand new fobs and went through the programming them thinking this would solve the issue. It hasnt, I now have to put the new fobs into the pocket to crank the car. They do lock, unlock, and open the trunk.
