Hi!!
First of all, 2002 Buick Century +**CUSTOM**+, well over 180k -> Had this badboy for many years and this car has been amazing y'all! (we call it the enterprise, due to the shape lol). It's actually really fast in my opinion. The reason why I think this car is awesome is because it's super rare for anything to break, like it just keeps running and running (but now it's getting up there in the miles and age).
Anyways, my question is how do you reprogram the cooling fans on the radiator to come on at a lower temperature? I know it's supposed to be about 220F but I just put in a 180F thermostat last night, had some issues with the engine getting too hot because the old thermostat didn't properly open anymore, so for peace of mind i would like the whole car to run cooler. I know hot is good for emissions and perhaps moisture in the engine but I would really love it if the temperature always stayed a bit to the left of the center mark, for peace of mind.
is there like a special ODB2 (/ ODBII) connector and software that I can acquire to change some of these settings around?
i don't want to do a manual control with a switch and i know the fans turn on with the AC. i'm pretty sure the fans are working fine and there are no related codes.
many thanks, go BUICK! 🙂
