I have a 2003 Buick Rendezvous CX. I just noticed yesterday that it is making a squeaking sound from the right front, but only when the wheels are rolling. It almost sounds like a metallic shaking sound, almost like the sound a salt shaker makes when shaking salt out. That's the best way for me to describe it. There isn't any vibration in the steering wheel or the brake pedal. The sound stops as soon as the car comes to a complete stop. I have also noticed that the sound changes a bit when I apply the brakes and it doesn't make the sound when I make a right turn. I searched all night last night trying to find a solution to the noise but didn't see anything that was caught my eye. So far I've read it could be a wheel bearing, CV joint, or the brakes indicating excessive wear. Thinking more like a wheel bearing?? What do you think? I'm desperate to get this thing fixed before I have to travel out of state next weekend. Thanks!

My first guess would be a wheel bearing but it could be a number of things. Based on the noise change or when turning and just the fact that wheel bearing is a very common problem that is what I would check first. If you or a friend have the ability just jack up that wheel and see if it has any play in it side to side and up and down, if it has noticeable movement then it is probably a wheel bearing. Or just take it in for a oil change at a local auto garage that offers the "free xxx point inspection" and tell them to specifically pay extra attention to that wheel to try to tell you what is wrong. A hub replacement is not really that expensive and is a fairly easy do it yourself project (especially the front ones) for anyone with the tools and a little bit of ability.
