Good afternoon folks,
I spent the better part of an hour searching the web for the proper name of the weatherstripping that runs along the plastic rocker panel.
My 2003 did not have this, instead it had the stripping attached on the inside bottom of each door, attached with plastic rivets.
Anyway, up here in the north, we get many freezing days. Some days involve getting the doors unstuck from being frozen shut. Often it's done without much fuss. Sometimes the weatherstrip that runs across the rocker peels off. Doesn't seem to matter what adhesive or two-sided weatherproof tape I use. Once a winter, both sides peel off when pulling on frozen doors.
What I am wondering is, am I able to just leave this stripping off? What are the downsides? It appears to me that its purpose is as a splash guard for puddles and heavy rain.
Thanks in advance and have a happy new year!
