Service engine soon comes on and off

I have 1994 roadmaster estate and 2 days ago the service engine soon light came on but doesnt stay on and comes on and off while driving anyone have any ideas on what's going on? Usually comes on after driving for a bit and going 0-60 really fast but not always.

No the light never stays on long enough

I had the same issue when I owned a 94 RMSW; occasionally the SEL would come on and go off after about 2-4 minutes of driving. I never stayed long enough to record a code. I believe the issue was related to the EGR valve, however, I never got to look deeper into the issue because I traded the wagon for a new SUV.

My 95 did that. I pulled codes off the radio that said EGR solenoid and canister purge solenoid. My mechanic finally got the OBD1 plugged in when the light was on and verified the EGR. Smog check was coming due so it had to get fixed.

I have the same problem on my 92RML , I will hit highway speeds ans after 5 to 10 minutes the SES light comes on and stays on . I finish driving and the engine cools down a bit the light goes off . It only happens at 55MPH or more driving . It does not affect my fuel mileage or engine performance , Do I need to EGR and canister purge solenoid replaced . Is there any harm to the engine ?
