I just wanted to post about my solution to the following problems since this forum was very helpful in this regard.

I bought a 2000 Buick Lesabre Custom two weeks ago with two separate but apparently related issues. First, the car would shake violently between 45 and 55 MPH. Above 55 MPH, the shaking generally got a bit better. This only happened when I had my foot on the gas pedal, either accelerating or maintaining my speed. Second, the car would seem to "hop" when I took a sharp left turn, and I noticed that the left front tire had way more positive camber on left turns than the right front tire had on right turns. During turns, the steering wheel would shake in my hand in tune with the "hopping."

I have seen many posts on the first issue on this forum and in other places, with several different solutions including wheel balance, cv axles, transmission issues, etc. I was unable to find a post about the second issue anywhere.

Looking under the car, I noticed that the left cv axle had a torn boot, so since I was replacing it anyway, I figured that was where I would start in trying to solve the shaking problems. It turns out that this single cv axle was apparently causing both issues, because now the car is smooth as a Buick should be at speed, and there is no more hopping during turns (and the wheel camber looks to be back to normal, though I am not sure what effect a cv axle could have on camber).

Thanks again for the help, Buick forum!
