Buick Ownership
Buick Century '98
So yesterday while driving my '98 buick century home I noticed that my steering was becoming unbelievably stiff. I pull into the driveway and at that point it's almost impossible to turn the steering wheel. I recently had my CV axles & outer tie rods replaced. After the CV axles were put in I noticed the car would not come out of a turn by just pressing the gas. I'm wondering if my problem could be something other than a bad rack & pinion. Any advice would be appreciated.

BTW I do have power steering fluid & there are no noises coming from under the hood.

I had a the same problem with my 97 Century after replacing inner and outer tie rods. And low and behold it turned out my car needed a new rack and pinion. I tried to make a left hand turn in a parking lot and steering wouldn't budge. Luckily it finally gave in and was able to drive home. Very dangerous to not get fixed. And the shop was only 2 minutes away. Unfortunately the job was beyond my skill level.

Thanks...I guess it is the rack then.
