So just picked up this awesome 95 Buick Roadmaster I've had my eye on for awhile.

Battery was dead jumped it started right up let it warm up while I ran upstairs came down it was idling rough touched the gas and dies.

It would start up with the foot to the floor then immediately die, does this sound like an intake manifold gasket issue? 155k got it from my neighbor who's an old lady who has owned it since 53k. Thanks for any input guys and I'll definitely make this A SOLVED post.

mine was doing something like that two three mechanics were asked no input wrote it all out what it was doing gave it to a smart one who read it all and he said it sounds like the fuel pump, he put a gauge on and it was 7 lbs and should be up around 20 if I remember correctly. its been perfect since a new fuel pump was put in. Someone posted once dont let you gas get too low the pump will run hotter, who knows it was original so after 24 years thats a good life. this car still has the original exhaust front to back which I find damn impressive with 225,000 miles or so.

in my case it started fine cold, it didnt run well at all cold, warmed up it ran fine,. IF I drove an hour and shut it off and tried to start it half an hour later it would just stall and I would have to have the pedal to the floor or do acrobatics to keep it running. it would usually stall three or four times then I could keep it running and in a minute it would clear up then run fine.

Your fuel pressure should be more than 40 PSI. Autozone has a decent tool to check that with.

The opti might be failing on it. (maybe)

Sounds like it should get a tune up to me! New correct spark plugs, acdelco wires, cap and rotor for distributor, fuel filter, transmission flush, BG44K injector cleaner(I swear by this stuff, and it might be the 20 dollar fix to your problem!) and any other little things it might need.

I could go on and on, but those things should get your car down the road for a good while. Also, buy ACDelco parts, they are 30% more expensive than duracrap, but are 100% better.

Actually, I missed one free super easy to check test.

Pull the vacuum line on the fuel pressure regulator, if gas starts coming out, it needs replaced! Its at the back of the intake manifold where the fuel pressure check schrader valve is. Check it while the car is running.

You might also have a vacuum leak.

So you're saying if I pull that vacuum line and fuel comes out the tanks bad? Or the fuel pressure regulater? Thanks for the input. I'm going to pick up a fuel pressure gauge tonight from AutoZone and test it in the morning.

Also, I'm sure it could Benefit from a tune-up but it seems to run really good when it's cold.

You may want to also check the EGR valve. If it stays open or leaks due to carbon build up, the engine will die at warm idle.

Checking EGR valve funciton is simple. with car running, unhook egr valve vacuum line and see if the diaphragm moves. If not, check cold and reach around and try to move valve manually. It should move freely if working correctly.

Yes, what OP stated above is correct.

What solved it? I’m having a very similar problem right now.
