thanks a mill ryenie! Actually had dude pull one out from car in junkyard. Asked him a million questions after he was done. Bolt at base connecting to rack and pinion is as you said, weather boot, etc.. Looks like very tip has a cutaway which allows it to slide into place at base of floor. Wires and stuff doesn't look to bad. I think dude may have gently snapped a piece off when pulling though. It looks like, what I'd like to call, the mechanism for the cruise control. A little cap and a smooth metal rod going through it horizontally. Looks like tip of rod was broken. Hopefully one in my car is still alright to use. What is that piece? Seems logical too, that 'kneepad,' or lower dash should come out without removal of upper dash, speedo, etc.. Yeah, two most important bolts, or hardest to get to are the ones right in that dash. Attached to a horseshoe like bracket. Well, off to get the one out of my car and the better one in. Would you believe I had to do all of this just for a crappy turn signal switch. Well, it's the lever, the switch, and the housing unit for the lever. Actually, it's all for that housing unit. That piece alone at the dealership was $160. Not computerized or anything. But can't find any other way to get at that w/out disassembling the entire steering column. Have done an ignition lock cylinder before. With that experience, still couldn't down the column far enough to get at that piece. From the yard, for the column, w/ airbag and all other instruments connected, the column, w/ labor to pull it, was $65. Hell, I needed an airbag anyways. Cut the wires to the last one because worried clock spring went back in wrong. Didn't want to blow up in face at random time. Alright, thanks again. Will talk to ya'll soon. Also, if anyone knows what that little cap and slide-bar part is, please let me know. Peace.
