Tailgate “kick” sensor

Anyone have an assembly diagram for the tailgate sensor/projector light? Mine isn’t mounted for some reason. I have no clue if that last owner decided to dismount it and from an initial look under the car it looks like it was dismounted for a reason.

If anything can someone get up under there and get a good couple of pics for me to see how it’s supposed to mount?


I was going ask but I figured I turn this into a quick how to. I figured it out when I went to take pics.

The unit literally snaps on top of the mounting tray via clips and requires no hardware. I guess the last ownerI clipped it or karate kicked the rear lip so hard it popped out. 🤷‍♂️

I took the liberty of cleaning the projector lense while I was at it.

Well this sucks. I guess I’ll pull it off tomorrow and put a q-tip and glass cleaner to it. If not I’ll order a new one. 🙃

I had no hole drilled in the bumper for it))))

It just clips in one way. Line up the pin closest to the bumper with the guide hole on the light assembly and just press it into the clips.

Update: Took it to dealer and they are replacing it under warranty. Dropping the car off tomorrow again for install.
