looking for some suggestions on a good fit, I know not gonna be an easy plug and play, but looking for the closest compatible. I'm being told Holly is a nice step up from my original Rochester 2bbl.

also looking to move to a HEI distibutor and Electric fuel pump

Have you considered a rebuild ?

Thought about it, have listened to some opinions on both sides. a new holly is better built the materials used are better vs a rebuild where perhaps the parts sourced to rebuild may not be of the same quality.

Just in initial diagnostics I was told there is definitely an issue in fuel delivery. So thought was do some upgrading

If you buy from a known carburetor service I would not worry about the quality of the parts in the kit

There is absolutely no reason to go to a Holley, and you don't need an electric pump, the mechanical pump is all you need. You are literally asking for trouble by going electric. All you are doing is adding more failure points. Any carburetor re builder can make your carburetor like new. Make sure they use ethanol resistant parts, and check the throttle shaft for worn bores, it can be bushed. I recommend Everyday Performance. He rebuilds Quadrajets, but I bet he can service your 2bbl. Contact him and ask. Ken does great work.

In addition, your original Rochester carburetor has been calibrated for your engine. A new Holley will have a generic tune, it's meant to work on a bunch of engines, so it isn't optimized for your engine. It will very likely run OK, but it will probably deliver less fuel economy.

Your fuel pump may be tired or damaged from the ethanol in pump gasoline, get a new one, they are cheap.

There are lots of options for an electronic ignition from points replacement units to new distributors.

These are really nice and budget friendly,

If you would like expert advice on your 64 Buick Skylark, go over to V8buick.com and join. There is no better board for 60 and 70 Buicks, hands down.
