not sure if this is normal but it only happens when the car is cooled down, like sitting overnight. backing out of my driveway, it shifts into reverse right away, but when I shift into drive, it takes about 2-3 seconds. not a big deal. more annoying than anything. if a car is coming down the block, it feels like forever and they`re probably cursing me out for taking so long. 😀 after that it`s fine and shifts quicker. anybody else have this problem?

sounds like maybe a drain back problem...

I'm going by the dealer today. let's see what they say. if there's no code, they`ll probably say it`s normal.

Do not believe what the dealer says. My car was starting with a diesel truck noise, first time the dealer said no codes-its OK. It took me two months after showing a video on my iPad to accept the car in order to recreate the problem. Cam shaft actuators/solenoids replaced and ECU reprogramed as per GM instructions!! (GM knew) and now the car is OK. The service consultants do not know a thing about your car and they do not drive most of the time new cars like yours and mine. Be persistent, it will pay out.

will do, thanks

gonna drop it off Monday. we`ll see what they say

My car is doing the same! I'll have to keep track and try to get my dealer to address it!

Does your car have the Chinese tran? I think most though Regals have the Chinese trans. Can somebody let us know?

How can I tell if my car has the Chinese tran? I have the German-made Regal but know nothing about the tranny.

Your new car sticker will show if your transmission is made in China.

Are not the AF40 AISIN autos (in the Turbos) made in Japan?

got the car back from the dealer and it`s doing the same thing. it MIGHT shift a little quicker than before, or that might be wishful thinking. they performed an engine stall avoidance reset drive pattern and said it`s fine. oh well, guess I gotta deal with it.

Base CXL with 2.4 transmission could be made in GM plants GMK (Korea), SGM (China), SLP (Mexico), TTO (Toledo).

Regal Turbo automatic F40-6 was made in Anjo City, Japan, the manual was made in Opel's plant in Rüsselsheim, Germany.

Source GM Powertrain web page.

I just found the label on the tranny. Location: 18" below power steering reservoir.
The aluminum tag for Aisin AF40-6 says made in Japan. (car is North American built)

The Neutral Idle feature is annoying. You can feel it when moving from a stop. It seems to be just a little too slow in shifting. It takes about 1-2 seconds after lifting off the brakes for it to engage.

It looks like we will have to change our driving habit for these trannys.
Step off brakes wait 2 seconds before stepping on accelerator.
THIS IS CRAZY!

Strange, I did not feel such a thing with mine (built 01/2011 in Opel's plant) but I must admit manual drive shift control (tap up/down) is a bit slow.

Transmission is Japanese Aisin. Had them in SAABS and never a problem. This on Turbo. Think 2.4 may have GM Hydramatic, but not sure.
