Buick Ownership
Envision
2025 Buick Envision Avenir purchased December 2024, Mileage: still halfway to first oil change.

While backing up, the SUV slams on brakes. The SUV can continue after the abrupt braking. At no time was there anything which should've caused the automatic brakes to apply.

While driving on a clear highway, the brakes have applied at a level I was barely able to keep from spitting my fillings out. Then they released. The same has happened when beginning to pass a truck on the highway as well. Using the cruise control, then disconnecting it before accelerating, changing lanes only to have the brakes slam on.

This is not a single vehicle. Buddy bought same 2025 Buick Envision Avenir model a week after me and it's been in the shop for over a month with dash torn out. No clue what the problem is. There were two others in the shop at the time and wouldn't look at mine until those were fixed. That was 2 weeks ago. Came accross a third 2025 Buick Envision Avenir purchased in February and have been getting messages from Sirius about immediate brake maintenance needed.

First Buick I've ever owned and bought it because of so many reasons including seat comfort and space, especially with my extensive history with spinal fracture and neck compression.

Anyone else have this problem? What were you told the problem was? Was it fixed or ongoing?

The dealer is telling me Buick is not returning their calls to solve the problems. It's interesting to also find out the dealers are left.on their own with no dedicated regional/provincial Buisk employees for problem solving to help escalate problems for solving. It wouldn't surprise me that all manufacturers are the same now.

Automatic emergency braking systems seem to be a problem in many brands of vehicles. I think that the system sees things that it thinks are a hazard when they are not.
Very easy fix: go into settings and turn off automatic braking but keep alert system on so that dash warning and/or seat vibration is active. I did this the day I bought my 24 Avenir and no problem since. I drive many more miles than most - have 16k so far - and car has been perfect.

I have seen this problem intermittently on my 2024 Envision purchased Jan 2025.
When I back out of my driveway it slams on the brakes when it sees the street while going down the slight ramp. Sometimes I can be beside a truck at highway speed and it slams on the brakes momentarily which is really scary... This I will be disabling those "safety devices" for safety reasons!
