I recently purchased a 2011 Enclave and backed in my driveway to drop off some gear, opening the tailgate. I got in and, forgetting to close the gate, put it in reverse, backed up and crunched my tailgate on the garage door frame. Hearing all the warning chimes all the time, I checked out all possible combinations. Every combo (tailgate, doors open) with every gear gives four (4) quick warning chimes EXCEPT when the tailgate is open, putting it in reverse cuts the warning chimes down to as little as a "blip". All other gears give full warning. Brought to dealer and checked other 2011 models in stock and it is same on all. Dealer checked with tech support and reported they acknowledge the fault on all Enclaves (have not checked other years yet). They also said there is no fix they have to cure it and will not program one either. This is a safety problem that I believe is their error and must be identified and fixed. I cannot find another blog about this, but after 10's of thousands of these cars built in the last 4 years, I bet this has occured more than to me.

Good luck with Buick customer service. They will say it is designed that way and that there is nothing wrong with it. That will be their final answer. Engineering design flaws that affect all of any year model will not be "fixed". See my thread on the trunk and key fob on the 2011 Lacrosse in the Lacrosse forum.
