Wet rear passenger carpet

Mine's in the rear behind the driver's seat (left hand drive). Haven't attempted a fix yet though I did replace the rear carpet and dry everything. Didn't realize I had an active leak at the time - just thought some water was spilled and it got trapped there (I just bought the car used). I put a moisture detection device under there and it did go off when I left the car in the rain. I can also hear fluid moving around behind the dash at times.

I have the exact same problem. Pulled the windshield wipers and all is well in the cowl. Need next step in Troubleshooting.

Do you have a sunroof? I do though it seems fine. But putting the car in the rain with a plastic cover over the whole roof would at least eliminate that. Or not.

I wish I had more to contribute. I banged my head against the wall until I found the issue under the cowl. I didnt have a sunroof. Before I figured it out I also checked the grommets on the body mounted tail lights and the pressure vents behind the rear bumper thinking maybe it wicked down the body from the rear.

Have you checked the foam BEHIND the carpet in the d/s footwell, up behind the pedal? I know with my cowl issue the foam under the carpet behind the glovebox was wet, but the carpet itself wasn't. Good luck, and keep at it...you will find it!
