I purchased a 2004 Buick Rainier CXL 5.3L Awd V-8 & it lately has been having issues that I haven't been able to figure out.
It started when I went to the gas station and after I filled the car up it would not start. My friend checked the battery connections, they were fine. They checked the ground wires, fine. They wiggled the BCM ribbon/ wires and the car started but all of the dash warning lights came on and none of the gauges worked and the DIC was not showing anything. We assumed it was the BCM ribbon that was the issue so we replaced that and then it would not start at all. The battery was completely dead even though the car had been sitting unused in the driveway while we had to wait to receive the BCM ribbon in the mail. Now it is still doing the same thing except it starts now but acts like it wants to die if I take my foot off of the gas pedal. We hooked a code reader up to it and it wouldn't link to the code reader. It kept saying "Check to make sure the vehicle is connected to the code reader". All of the warning lights come on the dash and it says "Unknown driver" on the DIC, the radio says "locked" and none of the gauges (fuel, oil, temp) work at all. We have checked all of the fuses and relays and they are all good. I'm hoping someone can offer some advice as to what could be causing this issue because I've done everything I can think of and nothing has worked. Any help or guidance with fixing this will be truly appreciated. I'm including a photo of the dash lights that are lit up. Thank you for your time and help with this.
