99 Park Avenue Ultra
Hello,

In case you haven't seen my other post, http://www.buickforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=26473 , I am going to replace the tranny mounts on my '99 Ultra. Rockauto carries both Anchor and DEA mounts. I'm aiming for the DEA mounts because the reviews I've seen elsewhere indicate that they are the better of the two; I'm sure that OEM from the dealer is outrageously priced. The problem is that the DEAs come in both hydraulic and solid mounts, and I don't know which came stock on the car. I'm open to suggestions for either type, but does anyone know which type were stock?

OK, I called the dealership and was told that the large mount up front next to the radiator is a hydraulic mount; he didn't say anything about the others but those appear to be solid. Just passing this along for anyone else who is replacing the transmission and engine mounts for their Park Avenue.

I posted a breakdown of the procedure for changing the torque axis mount on the pass. side in a recent thread.
I haven't done this yet, but I am also going to change out all the mounts (3). I bought DEA mounts.
Not sure about the difficulty of replacing the inner trans. mount. I've heard it can be an issue with clearance.
If you have any additional info or experience please let me know.

Sounds good; We'll see who gets to it first. The dealer quoted me $121 bucks just for the front one, so I'm definelty getting the DEAs. I think I'll skip the passenger side engine mount unless I can find someone to do it, because we had to loosen recently to change the lower supercharger idler pulley and there is no way to take it off without removing the engine! The factory service manual just says: "Loosen fasteners and remove mount". It fails to account for the fact that the engine prevents sliding the bracket for the mount out of the way. I can't imagine what a water pump job must be on this car...

I hear ya...so much for front wheel drive cars. I've had the engine out twice on my old '85 FWD Caddy Fleetwood beater, for a cam replacement & other items, and it's gonna get pulled again to replace the rear crankshaft seal. I'm getting too good at this.........

Park99ave,

The procedure I have shows a lot more detail than that you quoted.

See if this makes more sense. Sounds like when you remove the studs the bracket can
be taken off and removed from the chassis mount:

Remove the engine mount to engine mount bracket nuts.
Remove the engine mount to engine mount bracket studs.
Remove the engine mount bracket nuts.

Remove the engine mount bracket studs and spacers.
Remove the drive belt.
For Engine Code 1, remove the supercharger drive belt tensioner.
Remove the power steering pump. Set the power steering pump aside.
Disconnect the coil pack assembly and set aside.
Remove the coolant pump pulley.

Remove the engine mount bracket.

Remove the engine mount nuts and bolts.

Remove the engine mount.

Yeah that sounds about right. I think the only thing that got us was how to remove the studs; we were in a hurry to get the car back on the road at that point so we didn't really look into fully removing it.

Just run two nuts up against one another and loosen the inner one - you know what I mean..............
