Where is the coolant temperature sensor on a 1996 Buick Regal 3.8L

engine block? My electric fans do not come on; no leaks; radiator hose gets rock hard and too hot; engine light is on; low refrigerant so A/C control of fan is not possible at this time; jumper across fan relays plug in turns fan on; suspect temp sensor.

Have you tried a relay first? The temp sensor in in the engine block under the thermostat, between the exhaust crossover and front cylinder head.
