Is tint worth looking into? Im not talking blacked out, im thinking mild tint for slight privacy gains(be on par with newer cars) and maybe heat reduction?

Any one see significant heat decrease?

Interior heat may be similar sitting in the sun all day, but cermanic tint can block 99% of UV rays which leads to dash & interior fading/cracking! I had my whole car & windshield treated with 30% ceramic 10-yrs ago and what a difference that made in interior protection, visibility & interior cooling with the summer heat & A/C ON that made!

I've had almost every vehicle since 1979 tinted, car's, station wagons and Suburban's all with different levels of tint and type of material available at the time. It makes a noticeable difference in the summer months when parked in the sun and even driving windows up AC on plus as Hotz28 mentioned protects the interior. Toss those colapseable front window shades in during the summer and you will wonder why you didn't do it sooner lol. Each state has their own set of laws on window tint, level of tint and on what windows so it's somewhat of a guideline to review before making a decision.

20% 3-M on the whole side & rear. Currently illegal in my state, but will just pay the fine rather than remove it. When it was installed, there was no current law on % of window tint! The fine if I get a ticket, is less than removal & replacement, so I will take my chances! So far, so good!

Living here in Socal you have to have tint. Forget the cool factor and focus on the “ skin cancer” factor. Very real medical issue. My wife’s Dr. recommends the 3M brand. Pete

There’s hardly any draw back to getting window tint. Well worth it. Everyone has their opinion on what’s better and statistically ceramic it better but I like that darkness of carbon tint and it doesn’t “glaze” over under direct sunlight. Ceramic can tend to have this “white glaze” mostly on the inside when direct sunlight hits it. Carbon tends to get darker when direct sunlight hits it and if you compare the same 30% of ceramic to the same 30% of carbon. Carbon will look darker.

I went with 20% carbon form Suncast all the way around except windshield. Looks really dark but it’s really not.

Sorry for digging up such an old thread (my first post!) but I definitely think tint is worth it! I'm sure if you guys live in more populated areas finding someone to do the job will be easier, but it was surprisingly hard here in Wyoming, all the pros HATE the front windows on these cars 🙄 . The first shop I visited called me half way through and said he couldn't do it! I did end up finding an installer that was able to knock it out though, and it helped dramatically.

The ceramic film makes a significant reduction in interior heat in my Florida car. I had the windshield tinted as well, but to a lighter percentage.

I had my Minnesota car tinted on all but the windshield, but without the ceramic, since the UV is less of a factor there.

I noticed a interior temp difference in both cars, as well as a reduced “squint factor” overall.

Warning: The installer tinting my windshield used so much water, he shorted out my rain sense sensor. Pop that circuit board out of the housing (underneath the mirror) before the process begins.

Certain states can impound your vehicle if they give you 2 or more tint tickets and you don't fix it. Some states don't. Utah can revoke the registration on the second and impound on the third, making you pay the registration and impound fees for every violation. That adds up super fast, like $700 on the third. So I put mine right at the legal limit. Front's are 45%, rears are 20%, front window banner down to the ASTM line is 5%. I always use the best 3m with the highest UV blocking since I live in the desert. Makes a massive difference over normal or cheap tints.

And yes, I went through it with my old SCCA street legal race car before it got totalled.

Buy Ceramic window tint. Worth the extra money.

You have air conditioning, don't you? Newer cars come tinted? Didn't know that. Mine isn't.
