Hi Everyone,

I'm brand new to the forum but have used a lot of info from here that has come up from google searches from the past 18 months of owning my 94 Roadie wagon. I am looking into dash kits to replace my factory stereo with a single DIN Kenwood that my wife is insisting we use for our upcoming road trip. My problem is that there seems to be a discrepancy in the years listed under two different kits available for these cars. One kit is listed as 91-94 and the other is 95-96. If I'm not mistaken (and I could be) the 94-96 RMs had the same dash with the radio under and the 91-93 had the same dash with the radio over the climate control.

91-94 Kit:

95-96 Kit:

Does anyone know the correct kit to get? I was assuming the 95-96 would be the right one for my 1994 and the years listed were just incorrect but I wanted to check here first before blowing money on something stupid.

Just for the record, I do like my factory "Concert Sound II" setup with all the slide-y bits on the head unit, but my wife really wants her iPod hookup thats built into her Kenwood CD player.

Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

Isn't there a way to hook up an I-pod jack into the factory head unit? If so, that's what I would do. Well, and upgrade the speakers, maybe put an amplified sub in the trunk.

I did the iPod Jack hook up on my 95 I didn't find a thread were you could do it on a 93 it worked well with upgraded speaker

Caught by the spam filter. Carry on.

Thanks! Sorry for the double-posting...the little thing that says "your posting wont appear until reviewed by a moderator" or something like that popped up for like a second and I didnt know why the thread wasnt up when I checked back.

Thanks for the clarification on the years, now I can order the right kit. I intend to reinstall the factory unit once we're back from the trip, just because I like how it matches the rest of the car. We already have the Kenwood out of my wife's old Honda Wagon with the iPod hookup and everything so its really only costing us (me) the dash and wiring kit, like maybe $20. Plus, I have to get into the dash light and keyed power wiring for some aftermarket gauges so I can tap into those nice and easy with the radio out.

Just a quick re-question....the factory system I have shouldnt be amplified right? I read something about trouble using aftermarket head units with factory amplified systems for the RM and Caprices but from everything I could find the Concert Sound II is non-amplified....right?

Thanks again!

Awesome thanks! I'll be ordering one soon. Looks like the radio install/removal is super easy in these cars (found a YouTube How-To for a 95). I agree, BestBuy and the like all charge wayyy too much for something that can be had for a fraction of the price elsewhere. I understand they have overhead and employees and such but seriously, they should look at some of the competition out there!
