Brembo Brake Servicing

I have a low rise jack and didn't have any problems getting under. Either way, it is not so low that driving on a 2x4 wouldn't give you plenty of clearance for any jack style.

I didn't get the brakes done as planned last weekend. I am planning to knock it out this coming weekend instead.

What point do you use that will also allow you to place the car on jack stands?

Okay, going to attempt changing the pads out tomorrow morning. Just one more rundown on how to remove the clips would be helpful. Someone also mentioned pins, but just looking at the calipers through the wheels, I just see clips. Any pointers would be helpful. Thanks!

I usually jack from the pinch welds (just under the side skirts, there are cut-outs in the skirts for jacking points) and then I will put jack stands under the subframe.

This is where I jack mine and place the stands. So much plastic covering down there it's hard to find a spot haha

Finally got my brakes done. Let me say this: I don't even think easy is the right word to use. It's the quickest and easiest job ever!!! I mean they damn near change themselves!! 10 minutes for both sides!! I also went on ahead and changed the oil. I switched to Mobil 1 full synthetic. I'm starting to think that Dexros synthetic blend sucks!! It could be a placebo type effect, but the engine seems to run much smoother now.

I finally stopped procrastinating and got mine done today too, mine were shot a month ago when I ordered everything and were definitely ready to be changed. I went with Raybestos Advanced rotors & Powerstop Ceramic pads. Quite easy indeed.

Did you find the jacking & jack-stand spots easily once you were under there?

I actually put it on a lift and saw the jacking points. So how hard is it to get hear calipers off? Is it the same as taking off any normal caliper. The pads alone were the easiest thing I've ever done!!!!

Cheater 😛 What did you use to push the caliper pistons in? I used my normal c-clamp but had to mess with it because as I clamped one side of the caliper the other pair would push out... LOL. I'm sure there is a tool that is designed to compress both sides simultaneously.

For the caliper I actually find it easier since there is not a separate caliper & bracket. The caliper bolts directly to the knuckle with two 18mm bolts, then a 30mm torx to remove the rotor. Couldn't be easier.

Haha!! I have no choice but tonise the Auto Hobby shop on base. Since I got stationed here in NJ I don't have the option like I did when I owned my house in Florida. The weather has been to bad here to work on the car outside. As for pushing the piston in, I used a flat head screwdriver and started at the top of the pad to push it in enough to get some clearance. Then you can go down to the center of the pad. I'll be honest, there was nones fort whatsoever. Seriously, it was that easy. I'm guessing you could do this before you take the calipers off so you don't have to worry about using a c clamp. Thanks for the info on removing the caliper.
