I need to replace the speakers in my 2000 Buick Century because they are blown. I'm not looking for any upgrades so I would like to buy the original speakers. A car scrapyard is offering to sell the speakers I need for $15 which is perfect for me. My question is that if the speakers they have are from a different model year, are they still compatible without any problems? And will they sound the same quality?

Why bother with used junk?

Just pull the bad speakers and size them up and head to your local wallyworld.
They are prob. 4 inch anyhoo.

Thats what I did for my Z-28s front speakers.
A new set of Boss $14 bucks.

Do the Boss speakers sound any better than the stock Century speakers? They are cheap as dirt, but so are a used pair of stock ones. I've also heard that it is difficult to find replacement rear subwoofers that are the correct size. (I think they're subwoofers at least)

Heck YEA they sound better!
My Z has a aftermarket CD/am/fm unit in it.
I have a pair of 6x9 Jensens in the rear.

Much better than the 33 yo factory speakers!

My Buick has a delco am/fm CD player I got from a Pontiac!
Factory speakers are still hangin' in there...........

Neither soumds like a concert hall but serviceable.

Your car uses 6x9 rear speakers according to Crutchfield.
Easy to find and cheap to boot.

The Jensens are a bit expensive though. I have gotten some speakers from a junked
Century for $10. If they don't work I'll consider new replacements. Thanks.
